Hosted by Yunnan Minzu University and undertaken by Lancang-Mekong International Vocational College, this program is carried out against the backdrop of the "China-Cambodia Tourism Year" and the China-Cambodia "Diamond Six-Sided" cooperation framework. It aims to support human resource development for Cambodia’s tourism industry and advance the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. Implemented in October 2025, the program adopts a hybrid model of "online training + in-China study tour". It targets teachers from the National Institute of Tourism of Cambodia, tourism vocational training schools, and technical officials of the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia. Participants first receive a 5-day online training to boost their teaching capacity, after which around 15 outstanding trainees are selected to come to China for an 8-day offline study and exchange program. The curriculum covers cultural-tourism integration, fostering new productive forces in tourism, tourism resource development and planning, tourism marketing, and more. Field visits and cultural experience activities focusing on scenic area management, hotel & travel agency operation, intangible cultural heritage and cultural-tourism integration are arranged in Kunming and Dali.
Through systematic training and on-site study tours, the program improves the professional competence and teaching standards of Cambodian tourism teachers and industry administrators, deepens their understanding of China’s cultural tourism development model and Chinese tourist market. It enriches educational and training cooperation between China and ASEAN as well as Lancang-Mekong vocational education practices, creates a replicable and promotable brand case for tourism talent training in Cambodia, supports the sustainable development of Cambodia’s tourism sector, and contributes to the construction of the university’s international vocational education demonstration base targeting South and Southeast Asia.
